Riverside Cycling Code of Conduct Fun

27 May 2014

Follow this simple riverside cycling code of conduct: Cycling is a wonderful free thing to do in London.

  • Before setting out, check  your bike is in good working order.
  • Always wear a helmet.
  • Give way to pedestrians.
  • Ride in a single file.
  • When possible, use cycle routes and not the pavement.
  • Follow the Highway Code, and stick to the rules.
  • When turning or slowing down, use correct hand signals .
  • Plan your journey in advance, so that you do not get lost or end up in an unsafe environment.
  • Be aware of road, bridges and junctions. Slow down and be vigilant.
  • Use a bell to warn pedestrians.
  • ‘Please’ and ‘thank you’ go a long way to having a pleasant day out cycling.
  • Remember some people may have visual or hearing impairment.
  • High speed cycling should be conducted in an appropriate area, not all cycling routes are appropriate for this.
  • Lastly, have fun riverside cycling. That's what it's all about. Have fun and stay injury free. This is a good free thing to do in London for all the family.
